Salaried General Practitioner

As a Salaried General Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Your duties will include:
- Providing face-to-face and telephone consultations for routine and urgent care.
- Conducting patient home visits (low frequency).
- Managing patient care in surgery, including investigating and reviewing results, developing care plans, and making referrals to secondary care or other providers.
- Issuing and signing repeat prescriptions, ensuring they align with national/local guidelines.
- Administering and handling patient-related queries, test results, referral letters, and other tasks in a timely manner.
- Recording clear, contemporaneous consultation notes using EMIS and S1 clinical systems.
- Ensuring safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective care, in line with Practice disease management protocols and NICE guidance.
- Independently prescribing medications within your scope of practice.
- Reviewing and managing patient medications following appropriate policies and local clinical guidelines.
- Utilising other available clinical and support staff in delivering holistic and patient-centred care.
- Actively participating in MDT and care conference meetings, as required.
- Participating in on-call duties on a pro-rata basis, if required.
You will also be responsible for:
- Regularly screening for lifestyle factors and supporting patients in adopting health promotion strategies and self-care principles.
- Contributing to the delivery of anticipatory care plans.
To ensure you remain up-to-date with the latest clinical developments, you will:
- Maintain awareness of clinical practice developments.
- Attend weekly huddle meetings, Friday Lunchtime training, and clinical meetings.
- Participate in an annual performance review and take responsibility for personal development.
- Engage in mandatory training and attend courses as needed.
You will work closely with:
- Providing clinical support and guidance to both clinical and administrative staff to maintain the highest care standards.
- Collaborating with health and social care providers to deliver an integrated, safe service.
You will be responsible for:
- Adhering to all practice policies and procedures, including those related to prescribing, confidentiality, and data protection.
- Applying infection control measures and managing risks in compliance with local and national guidelines.
- Contributing to clinical governance through audits, peer reviews, and significant event analysis.
You will ensure:
- Patient and carer confidentiality, in line with practice policies.
- Managing patient data securely, only disclosing it to authorised persons.
You will:
- Support equality and diversity in all aspects of patient care and teamwork.
- Respect the privacy, dignity, and rights of patients and colleagues.
You will:
- Participate in any training programme implemented by the PCN as part of this employment.
- Keep abreast of national and local guidance.
- Participate in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
You will:
- Strive to maintain quality within PCN.
- Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk.
- Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.
- Work effectively with individuals in other agencies.
- Effectively manage own time, workload, and resources.
You will:
- Respect patient confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.
- Only disclose information to authorised persons in accordance with Practice policies.
You will:
- Assist in promoting and maintaining health, safety, and security as defined in the PCN Health & Safety Policy.
- Identify risks involved in work activities and undertake such activities in a way that manages those risks.
- Make effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.
- Use appropriate infection control procedures and maintain work areas in a tidy and safe way.
- Report potential risks identified.
You will:
- Promote and protect against any safeguarding concerns relating to Children and Adults.
- Recognise and report any concerns regarding Vulnerable Adult issues to the appropriate authorities.
- Recognise and report any concerns regarding Child Protection issues, including possible child abuse.
- Understand duties in relation to the Mental Capacity Act.
You will:
- Support the equality, diversity, and rights of patients, carers, and colleagues.
- Act in a way that recognises the importance of people's rights.
- Respect the privacy, dignity, needs, and beliefs of patients, carers, and colleagues.
- Behave in a manner that is welcoming and non-judgmental.
