Job Title: Security Officer
Location: Shopping Centre
Shift Pattern: Rotating Shifts
Hours: 28 hours per week
Rate of Pay: £12 per hour
Reporting To: Security Supervisor
ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
This role is the public face of the Security Team, requiring a professional and proactive attitude. You will ensure exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service are provided to the client and visitors to the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide first-class customer-focused service to all visitors and tenants within the shopping centre.
Conduct regular patrols of the shopping centre, being proactive and vigilant at all times.
Continuously look for opportunities to assist visitors, helping wherever possible.
Safeguard the site, ensuring a safe and non-threatening environment for all visitors and tenants.
Manage incidents in accordance with site policies and procedures.
Liaise with the control room, reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are briefed and supported.
Report any unsecure areas to the control room immediately, taking action to resolve the issue.
Record and log non-conformances and emergencies with the control room operatives.
Deal efficiently and effectively with emergencies, keeping the Centre team informed.
Demonstrate an understanding of human behaviour, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals, logging and reporting incidents in line with site and company policies.
Maintain vigilance and manage unauthorised access by banned individuals.
Adhere to radio procedures at all times.
Record events and incidents in the Security Officer notebook correctly, adhering to notebook policies.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
Ensure a timely response to all security issues and events.
Complete all training requirements as requested by the line manager.
Be available to cover at least one additional shift per month if requested to cover absence or annual leave.
Liaise closely with the Environmental Services team, delivering a single service and highlighting opportunities for collaboration.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Be professional, pleasant, friendly, courteous, and helpful at all times, while carrying out duties to the highest standard.
Demonstrate a one-team approach.
Take ownership of all situations, ensuring tasks are completed or escalated when necessary.
Stay motivated, aiming high and achieving.
Respect all staff and visitors within the shopping centre.
QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a current SIA front-line licence, with an SIA CCTV licence being advantageous.
