Decontamination Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Decontamination Technician to join our team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Decontamination Hub, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care by providing sterile surgical instruments, scopes, and supplies.

• Assist in the re-processing of standard reusable surgical instruments, medical devices, and equipment in the Hospital Sterilization and Disinfection Unit (HSDU).
• Process endoscopes in the Endoscopy Decontamination area, including receipt, pre-clean, decontamination, and packing.
• Operate modern industrial machinery to wash, dry, press, and fold hospital linen in the Laundry Department.
• Work in a Clean Room environment to wash, dry, inspect, fold, and pack surgeon's gowns, surgical drapes, and wraps.
• Participate in cross-site working as required to meet the needs of the service.

• Level 2, GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
• Basic IT skills.
• Evidence of completing further training and development or education.

• Successful completion of the in-house training program of instruction and practice of a wide range of tasks within the department.
• Active participation in Trust and Departmental training.
• E-Learning in Decontamination and/or NVQ in Customer Care or equivalent in Sterile Services Field.
