Job Title: Director of Midwifery and Professional Governance

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Director of Midwifery and Professional Governance to join our team at Hywel Dda University Health Board. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic and clinical leadership to our Women's and Children's Services Directorate.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have significant post-registration experience at a very senior midwifery level, with a strong background in clinical governance and professional leadership. You will be responsible for setting high clinical standards, meeting regulatory requirements, and driving service improvement across the Directorate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership to the Women's and Children's Services Directorate
  • Set high clinical standards and meet regulatory requirements
  • Drive service improvement across the Directorate
  • Provide expert advice on matters relating to Women's and Children's Services
  • Be professionally accountable for the quality and safety of service delivery
Requirements
  • Registered midwife with current Nursing & Midwifery registration
  • Significant post-registration experience at very senior nursing level
  • Educated up to Masters level or has equivalent specialist training
  • Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to professional midwifery and nursing practice
  • Good understanding of research
Language Skills
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
Experience
  • Significant post-registration experience at a very senior midwifery level
  • Significant senior operational management experience across healthcare settings
  • Experience of leading and implementing service improvement / redesign in healthcare
  • Proven ability to work across systems, organisational boundaries, develop networks and alliances
  • Experience of managing professional issues / litigation
