UK Financial Accountant Role

Gates Engineering & Services is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Accountant to join our European team. This exciting opportunity will see you working full-time from our Cramlington facility, supporting the UK Country Financial Controller in ensuring compliance with accounting standards and driving financial reporting and control across multiple UK legal entities.

About the Job

The successful candidate will maintain a robust and efficient financial control environment, driving a culture of continuous improvement. They will assure that all accounting procedures are in accordance with Gates policies and procedures, as well as local government laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical accounting expertise to the UK Finance team members as required
  • Direct the preparation and formal review of local financial reports and statements
  • Support the Country Financial Controller with ad hoc reporting and projects as required, deputising for the Country Financial Controller UK when necessary
  • Support statutory accounts preparation in accordance with accounting standards
  • Serve as the key point of contact for annual statutory and control audits for all UK entities
  • Act as the key point of contact and liaison with EMEA Shared Service Centre regarding GL accounting, AR, and AP for UK entities
  • Support month-end closing of ledgers of entities not supported by EMEA SSC
Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA)
  • Strong technical accounting skills on entity and divisional level IFRS or US-GAAP
  • 3 years' experience in accounting
