About the Role

Tony Gee and Partners is seeking an experienced Principal Rail/Structural Engineer to join our teams across all UK office locations. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a crucial role in developing the capability of our offices and contributing to the success of our rail infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of civils infrastructure in a rail environment, including the application of Network Rail (NR) standards where appropriate, element design and detailing to Eurocodes in a NR environment.
  • Coordinate and deliver designs for rail and broad civil engineering projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in bridge loading to Eurocodes, steel and concrete design to Eurocodes, and computer software for the analysis of structures.
  • Produce design deliverables, including packages of drawings, specifications, and supervise engineers and BIM/CAD technicians.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience of composite steel/concrete, masonry, geotechnical, and timber design to Eurocodes.
  • Proficiency in finite element software for the analysis of structures.
  • Designated CRE for civils for NR projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and develop their technical abilities.
  • A challenging attitude to the solution of engineering problems, with a focus on cost-effective designs and innovative solutions.
  • Awareness of the importance of costs and the need to complete projects on time and to budget.

Requirements

  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE or MIStructE) qualification.
  • Minimum of five years' experience post-graduation in civil engineering design.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the design of bridges, including loading to Eurocodes, element design and detailing to Eurocodes.
