SSEMH Support Worker Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated SEMH Support Worker to join our team in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children aged 11-16 with SEMH needs.

Your responsibilities will include assisting teachers and other professionals to implement individual learning plans, EHCPs, or behaviour management plans. You will also be responsible for building trusting relationships with students who may exhibit extreme behaviours.

We offer a competitive salary of £18,000 - £25,000 per annum, depending on experience. Our team receives free CPD training, including Team Teach and other behaviour management strategies. We also offer opportunities for permanent contracts following a successful trial period.

To succeed in this role, please ensure you have:

  • At least 6 months' experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or SEMH environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and other professionals.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable young people.
