Care Home Chef/Cook Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our team at the Inpatient Unit in a care home environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a care home setting, particularly with end-of-life and palliative care patients.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare and cook meals for residents, ensuring all dietary needs and preferences are met.
- Develop and plan menus that cater to the specific nutritional requirements of residents.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety in the kitchen.
- Work closely with healthcare staff to ensure meals support the health and well-being of residents.
- Manage kitchen inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Provide a compassionate and understanding approach to residents' dietary needs.

Shifts and Duration:
Monday - Friday Days, 5 - 6 hour shifts, 26 - 30 hours a week. This is a temp - perm role, with successful candidates receiving a permanent contract.

Requirements:
- Experience in the care sector.
- Experience in a Chef/cook hospitality role.
- Understanding of dietary needs and restrictions, particularly for end-of-life and palliative care.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

Wages:
£13.00 per hour basic wage, with Bank Holiday pay at time and a half.
