About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated Care Assistant to join our friendly team in Shrewsbury, providing support to young people aged 14-17 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.
About You: To be successful in this role, you will need to be enthusiastic, resilient, and driven to enrich and make a difference in the lives of young people. You should have excellent communication skills, a calm and patient nature, and the ability to engage and motivate individuals.
About the Job: This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a caring and nurturing approach. As a Care Assistant, you will provide individualised support to young people, promoting their independence and well-being in a therapeutic care environment. You will work closely with colleagues to maintain a safe and homely atmosphere, ensuring the physical and emotional needs of each young person are met.
Your Responsibilities:
- Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
- Provide support for the children and young people in the home to promote their independence and well-being whilst providing a therapeutic care environment.
- Ensure the safety of the young people and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication.
- Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically, dealing with challenging behaviours when needed, and maintaining a safe environment for young people.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers, and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
- Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
- Maintain a homely, friendly culture and environment of the home.
What You'll Need:
- You must be over the age of 22 and hold a full UK driving licence as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
- NVQ or QCF level 3 in Children & Young People is desirable.
Salary and Benefits: The salary for this role is £27,336 - £30,336 per annum, plus sleep allowance. You will also receive a company pension, access to discounts for shopping outlets, restaurants, and cinemas, and comprehensive training package including scheduled ongoing face-to-face training and Continuous Professional Development planning.
