Physics Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Physics Laboratory Technician to join our team at WQE. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting practical lessons in physics and electronics courses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing equipment for lessons and demonstrations, maintaining apparatus, and assisting students during lessons under the supervision of the Senior Physics Technician.
To be successful in this role, you will need a solid educational foundation, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science and Maths or higher. Laboratory experience is not mandatory, but you must be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and be comfortable under pressure.
THE CURRICULUM AREAOur Physics, Electronics, Computer Science & IT (PECIT) team comprises seventeen highly experienced and dedicated teaching staff and three laboratory technicians.
We have two dedicated physics labs, two dedicated electronics labs, accompanied by well-equipped prep rooms. This is a permanent, term time only post working 35 hours per week.
The salary banding for this post ranges from £22,312 to £23,162 pro rata per annum, with an actual starting salary of £18,318 per annum.
- We offer annual incremental pay increases, linked to performance, within the pay scale range.
- You will be automatically enrolled into the Teachers' Pension scheme with 28.68% employer contribution or to the Local Government Pension Scheme for support staff.
