About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Principal Lecturer to join our team at BIMM Institute. As a Principal Lecturer, you will provide leadership in your specialist area of Acting and support the Course Leader. This role places students at the heart of our curriculum and teaching practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach students and lead modules, ensuring effective delivery and quality assurance.
- Lead on digital innovation for your discipline, driving forward the use of technology to enhance the student learning experience.
- Mark and moderate student work, supporting the Course Leader in assessment processes and helping students understand assessment requirements and academic integrity.
- Act as an Academic Advisor, providing academic and pastoral support and guidance to students.
- Collaborate with the Course Leader to enhance the student learning experience, contribute to curriculum development, and advise on Lecturer recruitment and performance management.
- Support student recruitment efforts and represent your discipline in governance and quality platforms.
- Engage in professional development, scholarly activity, and research where appropriate.
Requirements:
- Extensive experience and a significant profile within the relevant area of the creative industries.
- A good undergraduate degree or equivalent Higher Education or professional qualification, and a teaching qualification relevant to Higher Education or a Fellowship of Advance HE (or willingness to achieve this within the first two years of employment).
- Experience developing initiatives to enhance student participation and engagement, and supporting students academically and pastorally.
- Proven experience in effective and innovative curriculum and teaching development activities.
- Understanding of quality and standards in higher education and creative arts contexts.
- Demonstrable impact on improving teaching quality and successful student outcomes.
- Experience in implementing institutional policies and processes at the discipline level.
- Ability to use data to improve student outcomes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
