Main Responsibilities

As a Steam Systems / Compressed Gaseous Systems Engineer at Tarmac, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of pressure systems equipment and supporting regulatory compliance. You will provide front-line technical expertise on piping, vessel, and heat exchanger systems in support of continued operation of the plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement Written Schemes of Examination, assess equipment condition, and report the outcome to the business area to comply with legal requirements and business goals.
  • Recommend repairs and advise the Engineering Manager on the restoration of a "fit for purpose" condition, accept repairs, and assign inspection intervals to achieve legal compliance and business goals.
  • Provide guidance on the practical application of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000 to inspection engineers, plant managers, and asset engineers.
  • Own and lead the implementation of a Risk-Based Assessment program for pressure systems equipment, ensuring compliance.
  • Provide pressure systems technical input in support of projects and plant modifications to deliver legal compliance and business integrity requirements.
  • Ensure management of change practices are followed for all modifications, upgrades, or project work to pressure-related systems on site.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and updates to systems, collaborating with production and engineering teams to improve system performance.
Requirements

The successful applicant will have experience working with steam generation, compressed air, and associated plant, ideally with manufacturing (QA and production), maintenance, and operation, repair, and site inspection experience. BOAS Accreditation is preferred but not necessary.
