Electric Power Systems Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking an Electric Power Systems Technician to join our team at National Nuclear Laboratory Careers. As an Electric Power Systems Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining electrical power systems, including generators, motors, and switchgear.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in electrical engineering and maintenance, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain electrical power systems, including generators, motors, and switchgear.
  • Carry out project work, breakdown repairs, and safe isolations.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements:

  • Time-served electrician or instrument mechanic holding recognized apprenticeship (e.g., NVQ level 3 Electrical Instrumentation or equivalent).
  • Able to understand single-line electrical drawings, instructions, and manuals.
  • Proficient in English and maths.
  • Becoming Developed Vetting cleared (includes identity, employment, financial, criminal record checks, interview, and 10 years of UK residency).
  • Self-motivated, driven, and resilient.
  • Able to make correct and informed decisions under pressure.
  • Evidence of self-motivation with demonstrable levels of drive, energy, and resilience.
  • Required to become Appointed as a Nominated Person Electrical.
