Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled financial professional to join our corporate accounts team within the finance department of NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board.

The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of financial management and a proven track record in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting. They will have experience of working in a large organisation, preferably in the NHS, and be well-versed in the NHS finance regime. Excellent IT and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to manage and develop staff.

The Corporate Accountant will report to the Assistant Head of Finance and will be responsible for providing a comprehensive financial management service for the corporate pay and non-pay accounts, including the ICB running costs.

Main Duties of the Job

The Corporate Accountant's main duties will be to:

  1. Provide expert financial advice and oversight of financial management for their areas of responsibility.
  2. Contribute to the month end reporting process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of the monthly financial position both internally and externally to the organisation.
  3. Monitor financial performance against agreed budgets, analysing and reporting on variances and assisting in formulating corrective actions.
  4. Assist with co-ordinating the budget setting and forecasting processes.
  5. Ensure the provision of high-quality financial reporting to budget holders and other non-finance managers.
  6. Establish and maintain strong working relationships to enable effective working. The post holder will be expected to liaise with both internal departments and external bodies.

  • CCAB part-qualified, or AAT qualified.

  • Experience of financial management in a range of organisations or areas.
  • Ability to plan and manage conflicting priorities for self and department to meet the objectives and deadlines for the ICB.
  • High levels of accountancy, technical and IT skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight and often changing deadlines.
Desirable
  • Experience of working in the NHS or other public-sector organisation.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial management in a healthcare environment and of the implications of the changing financial regime in the NHS.
