Job Summary

Audit Scotland is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator/Developer to join our Digital Audit team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and managing our data architecture, maintaining business intelligence solutions, and providing database administration for all on-premises and cloud applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Digital Audit and Business Intelligence Development:
  • Develop and maintain cloud-based data analytics tools and applications to support world-class audit.
  • Design and manage data architecture and business intelligence solutions.
  • Database Administration:
  • Provide database administration for all on-premises and cloud applications.
  • Manage on-premises SQL Server and Azure SQL Server Systems.
  • Design database architecture for integration with business intelligence and data analytics solutions.
  • Database Planning and Administration:
  • Manage business continuity solutions, backups, and log shipping.
  • Support secure data extraction via third-party APIs, specifically M365 and Azure.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in a Database Administrator/Developer role working with SQL Server supporting both on-premises and cloud services.
  • Experience providing Business Intelligence solutions for multiple environments.
  • Experience of providing SQL Database Administration and Development to a consistently high standard.
  • Log shipping or equivalent.
  • SQL Server security, including logins, users, and permissions.
  • Database modelling, both OLTP and Data Warehouse.
  • Experience of providing high-quality Business Intelligence solutions, including:
  • Delivering ETL/ELT solutions using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.
  • SSRS and Power BI administration and development, or equivalent.
  • Agile development, including git, or equivalent, version control.
  • Proven ability to work on solo projects, self-managing workload, and delivering products on schedule.
  • A proactive approach to planning, implementing, and problem-solving.
  • Working as a key member of digital services and data analytics teams.
  • Migration from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL Server (IaaS & PaaS).
  • Using PowerShell for database administration.
  • Applying Agile techniques for automated testing, continuous integration, and delivery, and DevOps.
  • Utilizing M365 and Azure APIs for secure data extraction.
  • A strong understanding of cyber security risks and how to deliver cyber resilient solutions.
  • A working knowledge of data governance regulations and principles.
