Job Summary

Concrete Industries Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for providing preventative and corrective repairs on company automobiles, diesel trucks, and other vehicles or machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests and identifying worn and damages parts.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades and controlling corrosion.
  • Performs all work in accordance with schedules, policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts or systems—such as power and drive trains, electrical air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering hydraulics, completes machine shop operations.
  • Makes alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, hydraulics, pneumatic and traction units.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety and combustion control standards.
  • Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing and painting.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
  • Shop tools are provided by company. Employee must provide a full general toolbox with some special tools.
  • Must continue to update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical journals and regulation publications.
  • Maintains and assures cleanliness and neatness of shop area. Assures safety standards are met.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Requires a vocational/technical diploma; or three to six months related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Previous experience working on diesel Mack trucks preferred.
  • A valid CDL driver's license is preferred, or must be able to qualify and obtain a CDL within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the company's insurance plan.
  • Must be flexible regarding work schedule. Must be able to work nights and weekends. Department personnel are on call 24 hours a day and must be reachable by phone.

Working Conditions

This is a physically demanding job that regularly requires the employee to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to shoulder height.

The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.

The employee is occasionally exposed to hot and cold weather conditions.

The noise level will vary while in the field/shop.

Must be flexible regarding the work assigned due to the schedule of our crews in the field.

This is a tobacco free campus and facility.
