Roxel is a leading Anglo-French company that designs, develops, and manufactures solid propellant rocket motors for tactical missiles. With a strong presence in the UK and France, the company has an annual turnover of approximately £150M and employs nearly 700 staff.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our design department. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting stress analysis duties and will be the structural technical authority for several rocket motor products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct stress analysis duties, including ballistic performance prediction and modelling, propellant charge and hardware stress analysis, and provision of documentation services
  • Maintain design manuals and knowledge databases
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of rocket motor hardware and propellant charge using Abaqus software
  • Develop motor structural test plans and participate in the delivery and assessment of structural testing results
  • Responsible for structural performance technical aspects of assigned projects, including supporting project customer meetings, project investigations, design reviews, and corresponding customer stress engineers
  • Deliver key project documentation, including structural analysis and structural test plans and reports, and structural design records
  • Contribute to qualifications reports using expert knowledge
  • Stay up-to-date with industry technical innovations and changes, and act as the technical lead of new technology research programmes
Requirements:
  • Degree-level education in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline like Material Science
  • Proficiency in ABAQUS software and experience with Microsoft Office package, particularly Word, Excel, and Access
  • Material science knowledge, particularly in composites, viscoelastic materials, and adhesives
  • Experience with CAD modelling and Altair-Hyperworks
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
  • Proficient and confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivation, ability to commit to delivering tasks on time, and professional work output standard
