About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Category Buyer to join our team in Leicestershire. As a key member of our procurement function, you will be responsible for managing a significant portion of our spend across various categories. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise and drive value for our business.

Key Responsibilities:

* Own a defined area, taking full accountability for its performance and growth.
* Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to develop and implement strategies to manage raw materials and finished goods, ensuring 100% OTIF delivery to customers.
* Manage relationships with suppliers, drafting contracts and negotiating favorable terms where possible.
* Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency, implementing measures to achieve these goals.
* Analyze and address variances in PPV vs. Budget, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
* Source new suppliers, de-list underperforming ones, and implement a vendor management process using the Grow-Maintain-Decline approach.

Requirements

To succeed in this Category Buyer role, you will need:

* A proven track record in FMCG Food Manufacturing, preferably with SAP/MRP/ERP knowledge.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build strong supplier relationships.
* CIPS certification or a willingness to pursue it.
* Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze data to inform decision-making.

Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
