Sodexo is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer / Plumber to join our team at HMP Northumberland. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing various equipment and parts to ensure the good upkeep and infrastructure of the prison.
Main Responsibilities:- Carry out regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs to onsite systems, including mechanical and plumbing equipment.
- Read and understand technical diagrams and instructions to perform tasks efficiently.
- Perform general maintenance activities, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and support other colleagues as needed.
- Inspect and improve resident decency standards, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
- Repair and replace building services equipment or fixtures, including mechanical and electrical components.
- Participate in 'out of hours call out procedures' on an "On Call" rota system and take appropriate action.
- Work in accordance with Sodexo's policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- High level of interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and residents.
- Positive approach to health and safety, with a proactive and systematic approach to tasks.
- Ability to work to correct time schedules and deadlines, with a high level of physical robustness required for the role.
- Must have served a recognized apprenticeship and obtained relevant trade qualification.
- Ability to perform tasks alone or in a team to a high standard, with limited or no supervision.
- Professional, motivated, and enthusiastic attitude, with a willingness to undergo additional training as required.
- Competitive salary up to £35,000 per annum.
