About the Role:

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to join their team. As a Materials Buyer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the company obtains quality materials and equipment hire for competitive prices in a timely fashion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse current processes and suppliers to ensure materials are being scheduled in with the right lead times with the most competitive suppliers with relevant approvals.
  • Work closely with the quantity surveyor, estimator, contracts managers, and site teams to ensure the company's procurement needs are met.
  • Identify opportunities to add best value and process improvements to the procurement process.
  • Manage the procurement process from start to finish, including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a buyer with a main contractor, groundworker, or civils contractor.
  • Understanding of groundworks, surfacing, and hard landscaping.
  • Ability to liaise with builders merchants and suppliers.
  • I.T. literacy and ability to manage own workload and work independently.
