Building Consultant

The Department of Neurology at North Bristol NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our clinical department, you will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise in the provision of services to patients with epilepsy and learning disabilities.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in neurology, with a minimum of seven years postgraduate experience, including higher surgical/medical training and three years as a Specialist Registrar in an approved training post. You will be expected to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
The post will include 2 epilepsy clinics per week, 1 general neurology clinic per week, and 1 neurology hot-clinic per month. You will also be responsible for providing cover to the general neurology ward for between 2-4 weeks per year.
Main Duties of the Job- Communications and Relationships: The post holder will be expected to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
- Responsibility for Patient Care: The post holder will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his or her charge and for the proper functioning of the service.
- Teaching and Supervision of Junior Medical Staff & Students: The post holder will be required to work in partnership with colleagues of all disciplines, external stakeholders and service users, to ensure the creation of a quality service.
