Dairy Farm Manager Position

Based in Canterbury, Ashburton (1 hour 10 minutes to Christchurch), we are seeking three Dairy Herd Managers to join our large-scale dairy operation.
The successful applicants will be responsible for managing the dairy herd, ensuring optimal milk quality, and contributing to the overall success of the farm. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, a strong understanding of dairy farming practices, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Milking and monitoring milk quality
- Effluent management
- Stock handling and feeding, including pasture management
- Fencing and weed control
- Calving and calf rearing
- Shed maintenance and preparation
- Monitoring, recording, and maintaining animal health
- Other general farm duties
Requirements:
- A minimum of six months' experience working in the NZ dairy industry, including through at least one spring calving period
- At least two years of relevant work experience or a Bachelor's Degree (any field considered)
- Strong references from previous employers in the dairy industry
- Physical fitness and a restricted driver's license
- A pre-employment drug test and criminal check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Level 4 relevant qualification (Agriculture) or higher
- Ability to run the dairy shed sole charge at times, with a relief milker available
Employment Details:
- Permanent Full-time position
- 6:2 roster with a minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week and maximum hours of 40 per week
- Overtime rate of $31.66 per hour for any hours worked beyond the maximum
We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
