Job Overview

The role of Children's Service Director will involve providing strategic leadership and management to deliver positive outcomes for children and young people across all areas of their development. This will include managing the home holistically, using all resources to create a positive, inclusive environment where children and young people thrive.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and managing therapeutic services to create an environment that fosters positive, safe, healing relationships.
  • Building and leading a team of trauma-informed practitioners who meet the needs of young people experiencing multiple placement breakdowns.
  • Ensuring staff deliver positive, sensitive care in line with values, legislation, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Statement of Purpose.
  • Overseeing childcare practices and maintaining high professional standards within available resources.
  • Managing a home that meets the physical, emotional, identity, cultural, religious, and educational needs of children in accordance with their care plans.
  • Working effectively with Ofsted and within regulations to deliver the highest standard of care.
  • Leading a team that encourages children and young people to develop a positive sense of self and individual identity.
  • Evaluating and managing risk to protect young people from harm, provide a safe environment, and teach risk competence.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and managing challenging behaviour in line with legislative and organisational policies.
  • Building support networks with professionals, including police, social workers, mental health workers, educationalists, commissioners, and LA decision-makers.
  • Delivering services within a children's rights framework, promoting their right to participate in decisions affecting their lives and the running of their home.
  • Supporting placements during crises.
  • Providing management oversight and support during safeguarding incidents, responding with clear action plans.
  • Providing advice, guidance, reflective supervision, and annual appraisals as per policy.
  • Identifying and reviewing the training needs of staff.
  • Managing performance-related issues as required, in accordance with policy.
  • Taking responsibility for own learning and development through participation in meetings, supervision, and training.
  • Promoting and enforcing Health and Safety policies, maintaining safe practices for self and others.
  • Collaborating with other services to ensure staff have the right resources, skills, and knowledge to work effectively with young people.
Requirements
  • A minimum salary of £42,119-£45,250 per annum, dependent on experience.
