We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Prison Education Tutor to join our team at Dovetail and Slate. As a Prison Education Tutor, you will play a vital role in educating and rehabilitating adult learners in a prison setting.
About the Role:This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week, with the opportunity to work part-time. You will be responsible for delivering pre-entry level to level 2 Functional Skills classes in Maths and English. The role will involve outreach work outside of the main classroom setting, working with learners on a 1:1 basis in the wings, workshops, and other areas of the prison.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver high-quality teaching and learning to adult learners in a prison setting
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of learners
- Work with learners on a 1:1 basis to support their learning and re-engagement with education
- Conduct outreach work to connect with learners in a professional manner and encourage them to return to a classroom setting
- Collaborate with the education department to ensure effective delivery of education programs
- Good basic general education including GCSE (or) equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above
- A Degree, or professional qualification, which is appropriate to the work
- Experience in supporting learners re-engaging into education
- Resilient and able to work in a challenging environment
- Teaching Qualification (or willingness to gain within the first two years of service)
- Competitive salary up to £36,500 per annum (prorata for part-time working hours)
- 38 days annual leave, 3 additional days leave for Christmas to New Year closure and UK Bank Holidays (entitlement will be pro-rated for part-time employees)
