Job Overview

The London Clinic is seeking an experienced Microbiology Manager to lead our team of Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants in the Microbiology Department.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of diagnostic services and infection control are maintained, working closely with clinicians, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to deliver efficient and effective microbiology services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Microbiology Department, including staff management and training.
  • Ensure compliance with UKAS accreditation standards and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee the processing and analysis of clinical samples to provide accurate and timely diagnostic results.
  • Manage department budgets, procurement, and inventory control.
  • Implement new technologies and methodologies to improve diagnostic capabilities and laboratory efficiency.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist or equivalent.
  • A degree in Microbiology or a related field (MSc or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in a microbiology laboratory, with a managerial or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical microbiology and laboratory accreditation standards (e.g., UKAS).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
