About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Research Associate to join our team as a SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein Investigator. As a member of our research group, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that aim to elucidate the functional importance of the free fatty acid-binding pocket in SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.

In this role, you will be responsible for producing SARS-CoV-2 spike mutants using MultiBac insect cell expression, confirming that LA binding is abrogated, and characterizing ACE2 receptor binding and stability of the spike mutant using biophysics.

You will also solve the structure of the best SARS-CoV-2 spike mutant protein by single particle cryo-EM and in situ in the context of mutant SARS-CoV-2 using cryo-tomography.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics or related field
  • Published experience in protein expression and purification, biophysical characterization, Cryo-EM and image processing
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated to be £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
