Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs at our forward-thinking SEN school near Horsham.



About the Role

  • Support students with varying special educational needs, including those with challenging behaviour.
  • Assist with classroom activities, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Provide personal care when necessary, including feeding, toileting, and hygiene support.
  • Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Foster a nurturing and supportive atmosphere to encourage student engagement and participation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver comprehensive care and education.


Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to manage and positively respond to challenging behaviour.
  • Willingness to provide personal care as needed.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential due to the school's location and potential off-site activities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
