About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Ross-Shire Engineering Limited. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and commissioning of automation and control systems solutions for the water industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop control systems solutions using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Develop detailed design proposals for new build and refurbishment projects, including control system hardware and software requirements.
  • Assist electrical engineers in the development of robust control systems architectures.
  • Provide specialist assistance to commissioning teams during the development of control philosophies.
  • Develop and self-test control system software to achieve required functionality.
  • Carry out site acceptance testing of control systems against SAT documents.
  • Investigate and provide technical advice and support on automation-related issues.
  • Manage the specification, development, installation, and validation of automation projects within budget and corporate guidelines.
Requirements
  • HNC/HND degree in Engineering or equivalent, with emphasis in electrical, mechanical, electronic, automation, and/or chemical disciplines.
  • Proven ability in the design and commissioning of control and electrical systems associated with process automation, preferably in the water sector.
  • Detailed experience in the development of control systems solutions using PLCs and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Experienced working knowledge of Profibus, ProfNet, Ethernet, Modbus, and DH+ systems.
  • Experienced in integration and modification into existing systems PLC control systems in a live environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of process systems, P&ID control, and loop tuning.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of electrical schematics.
  • Must be flexible and willing to travel, including regular site working.
  • ECS/CSCS card.
  • SIMEMS/Rockwell Certification.
  • Full UK driving license.
