Job Title: Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an Intermediate level Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Edinburgh office.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Specification: Ensure an understanding of project briefs, design, and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
  • Documentation: Prepare and review documentation, including designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
  • CAD and Software Tools: Carry out detailed calculations using industry-standard software tools, including Excel, CAD, IES, and in-house developed tools.
  • Site Surveys and Inspections: Conduct site surveys, inspections, and monitoring of site works.
  • Surveys and Recommendations: Implement detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish the status of existing installations and recommend new/upgrade design proposals.
  • Junior Engineer Support: Assist with the development of junior engineers.
  • Report Writing: Write reports and technical notes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ideal candidate is chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
  • Experience working in a similar consultancy or environment.
  • Good report writing skills and experience making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
  • Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards and ability to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, and act on own initiative.
  • Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools, including IES thermal modelling package, Microscoft packages, CAD.
