Job Title: Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate to join our team at the University of Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range of activities within the Birmingham BRC Next Generation Therapies research programme and/or related research projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and analysis to support the development of new knowledge and understanding in the field of chemical engineering.
  • Contribute to the writing of research bids, publications, and reports.
  • Develop and implement new research methods and techniques.
  • Supervise students and provide guidance to MSc/PhD students as required.
  • Contribute to the development of new models, techniques, and methods.
  • Undertake management and administration tasks arising from research.
  • Contribute to departmental and school research-related activities and administration.
  • Contribute to enterprise, business development, and public engagement activities.
Person Specification:
  • First degree in chemical engineering or a related field and a higher degree relevant to the research area or equivalent qualifications.
  • High level of analytical capability and ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Fluency in relevant models, techniques, or methods and ability to contribute to developing new ones.
  • Ability to assess resource requirements and use resources effectively.
  • Understanding of and ability to contribute to broader management and administration processes.
