The Role

This exciting opportunity seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our Defence and Security team in our Engineering and Machine Learning department. As a key member, you will collaborate with colleagues across the team to create innovative AI/ML solutions, driving the delivery of professional-level software prototypes.

You will work closely with Machine Learning Engineers, Research Scientists, and Product Managers to transform cutting-edge approaches into performant and robust solutions for our customers' challenges.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with colleagues across the team to develop AI/ML solutions.
  2. Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art ML methods, software tools, and implementation techniques.
  3. Work with platform engineers to provide expert advice on ML techniques.
  4. Evaluate scientific concepts for viability of implementation.
  5. Write maintainable production code and promote best practices in a scientific codebase.
  6. Attend client meetings as required.
  7. Deliver training to customers on core ML concepts and Mind Foundry products when necessary.
  8. Be prepared for occasional travel to partner locations.

Your Qualifications

  1. A Master's degree in a scientific discipline like Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or similar; a PhD/DPhil is highly valued.
  2. Extensive experience in writing and maintaining code in a commercial environment.
  3. An experienced software engineer fluent in Python, ideally in a scientific or industrial context.
  4. Experience working with ML or statistical methods.
  5. A strong advocate for scientific integrity practices.
  6. Ability to work with state-of-the-art ML libraries to deliver rapid results.
  7. A collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn.
  8. Comfortable communicating complex ideas to various audiences.

Bonus Points

  1. Experience handling large datasets and suitable software techniques.
  2. Deploying ML solutions into production environments.
  3. Familiarity with the broader ML ecosystem.
  4. Ability to write technical material like documentation, published papers, and internal notes.
  5. Experience working in the Defence and National Security space.
