Specialist Teaching Assistant for Autism Support

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist school for children and young people with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH. The successful candidate will provide support to students aged 4-16, offering general classroom assistance, 1:1 support, and managing behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality education to students with Autism and other special needs.
  • Offer general classroom support, including managing behavior, monitoring students during break times and meal times, and maintaining a tidy classroom environment.
  • Provide 1:1 support to students, offering emotional support and helping them to develop their skills and confidence.
  • Prepare activities, including printing and photocopying, to support student learning and engagement.

About You:

  • You will have at least 1 year of experience as a Teaching Assistant in a UK school, with a strong understanding of SEND, including learning and behavioral needs.
  • You will be able to handle challenging situations calmly and have good initiative, with a caring, patient, and dedicated approach to supporting students.
  • You will be a good team player, with a great sense of humor and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.

Working with Long Term Teachers:
