Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at B&M Retail.

This is a full-time position that will involve working alongside the Site Operations team to resolve, repair issues, and maintain equipment in our Bedford DC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set facilities standards and ensure they are maintained
  • Work with 3rd party contracts to ensure best value
  • Help implement a new CMMS to track and manage maintenance tasks effectively
  • Ensure compliance with national standards and specifications
  • Implement health and safety best practices and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Follow planned maintenance schedules and take action when necessary
  • Work with the Facilities team to resolve, repair issues, and maintain equipment
  • React quickly to breakdowns and communicate effectively with affected parties
  • Support continuous improvement by learning from breakdowns and sending feedback and suggestions for improvements

Requirements:

  • Served a full Engineering indentured Apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
  • Multi-skilled in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
  • Experience of setting standards and implementing them on site
  • Warehouse internals experience, including racking, dock doors, dock lifting systems, sprinklers, lighting, power distribution, plumbing, joinery, and general repair works
  • Ability to organise and prioritise multiple maintenance works
  • Good communication skills within a team and with operations
  • Experience with warehouse automation is desirable
