Job Summary

Holland & Knight LLP is seeking a skilled Data Protection Specialist to support a variety of firm-wide projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data protection and privacy laws, experience in risk assessments, data analysis, and research, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct risk assessments, including client risk assessments, data protection impact assessments, and transfer impact assessments;
  2. Create and maintain procedural documentation for firm processes and initiatives;
  3. Conduct investigations, inquiries, and remediation efforts;
  4. Perform risk assessments and develop corrective action plans;
  5. Participate in data protection controls strategy and administer privacy and security controls;
  6. Support the firm's data protection initiatives and processes;
  7. Assist in developing educational tools and training on data privacy and compliance;
  8. Provide analysis and support for privacy and compliance initiatives;
  9. Enhance program metrics and reporting, and identify trends or areas of risk;
  10. Effectively communicate critical program goals and promote a privacy and risk aware culture;
  11. Serve as a privacy and compliance resource to teams and workgroups;
  12. Collaborate with other teams to identify and monitor risk;
  13. Assist with data classification enhancements and initiatives;
  14. Respond to privacy inquiries and requests;
  15. Support data mapping and data inventory efforts;
  16. Assist with administrative and operational privacy and compliance program functions;
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Years of professional experience, including familiarity with privacy and compliance, data protection/cybersecurity;
  2. Strong ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with clients and internal teams;
  3. Strong computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite and iManage;
  4. Industry standard certification, such as CCEP, CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, CISP, TPRM, or other similar certification;
  5. Knowledge or understanding of IT Security principles a plus;
  6. Law firm experience preferred.

Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree required.
