About the Role

We are seeking a visionary and accomplished Head of Science Faculty to lead and manage the Science department at a reputable secondary school in the UK. The successful candidate will have the passion and expertise to drive the faculty forward, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all science disciplines, while fostering an engaging and inclusive environment for both students and staff.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving student outcomes and a deep understanding of the UK Science curriculum. They will be responsible for leading, managing, and inspiring the Science Faculty, ensuring continuous improvement in teaching standards and student outcomes.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment, ensuring consistency and excellence. They will foster a positive and collaborative learning environment, supporting staff development through mentoring and professional growth opportunities.

Additionally, the Head of Science Faculty will manage departmental resources effectively, ensuring the science labs and equipment are used safely and efficiently. They will liaise with senior leadership and contribute to the whole-school strategy and development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. They will also have a passion for promoting and encouraging extracurricular science activities, including STEM initiatives.

Essential Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a Science-related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a secondary school, with a track record of improving student outcomes.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK Science curriculum, including recent developments in STEM education.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
