About the Role:

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join an esteemed team at a specialist SEN school in East Sussex. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to students with diverse special educational needs, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance to thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised and small group support to students with a range of SEN, including but not limited to autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised support strategies designed to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate closely with educators, therapists, and other professionals to cultivate an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with students, fostering their emotional well-being and nurturing their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Support students during lessons, facilitating their engagement with the curriculum and addressing any obstacles to learning.
  • Provide assistance with students' personal care and mobility requirements, as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Possession of relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent, would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
  • Patient and empathetic demeanour, coupled with a genuine dedication to supporting the learning and growth of students with SEN.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the capacity to effectively respond to the diverse needs of students within a dynamic educational setting.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
