Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our Alternative Provision team based in Totnes. This unique opportunity offers the chance to make a real impact on the lives of young people who require specialized support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality English lessons to students with special educational needs and/or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Collaborate with the wider multi-disciplinary team, including SEN specialists, therapists, and support staff, to ensure each student's needs are fully met.
  • Engage with parents, carers, and external professionals to support students' academic and personal development.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3/KS4) with a strong understanding of the national curriculum.
  • Proven experience working with students who have SEN and/or SEMH needs, preferably in an alternative provision or SEN setting.
  • Additional training or qualifications in SEN/SEMH education.

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate and motivated English Teacher who is passionate about making a difference. We offer a competitive salary package, estimated to be around £28,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
