Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons to small groups or whole classes, working closely with subject teachers to ensure lessons are engaging and accessible for all students.
  • Student Support: Support the learning and progress of students across various subjects, adapting resources and teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support: Provide targeted support to students with SEN, helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
  • Assessment and Reporting: Assist in the assessment and reporting of student achievement, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentorship and Teamwork: Mentor and support other teaching assistants, sharing best practices and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Classroom Coverage: Cover classes in the absence of the teacher, maintaining high standards of behaviour and ensuring students remain on task.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, with a proven track record of supporting student learning.
  • Qualifications: HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a secondary school setting.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Approach: A flexible and proactive approach to work, with the ability to adapt to different classroom environments and student needs.
  • Certifications: A valid DBS check registered with the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
