Transportation Operations Manager

Job Summary:

The Senior Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of vulnerable adults in Derbyshire. This position requires a skilled professional with a strong understanding of transportation services and a passion for delivering high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site inspections and surveys to identify and address transportation needs.
  • Assist in preparing tender and contract documents, analyzing responses, and supporting the award process.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contractors to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Lead projects to implement new procurement and ICT processes.
  • Supervise and support staff, fostering their development.
  • Manage in-house services, ensuring drivers and vehicles operate safely and cost-effectively.
  • Produce reports, statistical records, and correspondence, and conduct data analysis.
  • Maintain records of service performance and contract compliance, escalating breaches as needed.
  • Support the wider Specialised Transport team, particularly during busy periods.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in routine scheduling and understanding small vehicle transport operations.
  • Experience in planning, monitoring, and evaluating transport delivery.
  • Comprehensive understanding of procedures and regulations for transport provision.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, numeracy, and literacy skills.
  • Proficiency in ICT systems and the ability to contribute to the development of new systems.
  • Excellent organisational, timekeeping, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders and work both autonomously and as part of a team.
