Science Teacher Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join our vibrant school community in Barnet. As a Science Teacher, you will play a vital role in inspiring and educating students in the wonders of science.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the national curriculum and promote active learning.
  • Teach Science within the National Curriculum Guidelines.
  • Carry out departmental and school assessment procedures and marking policies.
  • Record and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Keep a disciplined class while promoting the general well-being of students.
  • Participate in the provision of co-curricular activities and clubs.
  • Maintain resources as necessary within the budgetary allowance.
  • Carry out the necessary administration as required.
  • Assist the Head of Department in reviewing development plans, curriculum documents, and policies.
  • Promote development within Biology, Chemistry, and Physics and identify any associated staff development requirements.
  • Carry out break duties as timetabled or when necessary.
  • Attend school meetings and In-Service Training as and when required.
  • Maintain an appropriate awareness of and work effectively within the policies and procedures of the school.
  • Operate safely within the workplace and maintain a high standard of practice.
  • Behave professionally at all times and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of the students that fall under your responsibility or that you come into contact with.

About the School:

This is a very successful and lively department. We offer both Combined and Triple Science at GCSE and have a large number of students staying on to take Science subjects in the Sixth Form. We also attract many new students from other schools into Year 12 to take Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at A Level. There are currently twelve staff in Science teaching. There are Teaching and Learning Responsibility posts for Head of Science (Biology), Head of Physics, and Head of Chemistry.

The science department is well supported by Technicians in each department. There are seven well-equipped laboratories.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-qualified scientist to join the Physics team on a permanent, full-time basis from September 2024.
