Job Overview

Job Title: Specialty Doctor in Histopathology

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Histopathology to join our team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialty Doctor in Histopathology, you will be responsible for providing high-quality histopathology services to patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) and relevant quality assurance and proficiency testing.
  • Participate in the histopathology rota covering histopathology and cytology reporting, specimen dissection, and providing histopathology support at MDT meetings.
  • Develop and implement research projects to improve patient outcomes and contribute to the development of the department's research portfolio.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teaching of students attached to the Department and traditional teaching and mentoring of medical students.
  • Contribute to the Department's rolling Clinical Governance half-day meetings, maintain own skills and competencies through Continual Professional Development (CPD), participate in Clinical Audit and Effectiveness work, and Research and Development, as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Full GMC Registration with license to practice.
  • Evidence of relevant experience in Histopathology.
  • A relevant higher qualification.
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams, managing and developing services, and participating in clinical audit and effectiveness work.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and the principles of research.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues, colleagues in pathology, and support staff, and to present effectively to an audience.
