ROLE

General:

  • As a ROV/Trencher Pilot Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the operation, repair, and maintenance of the ROV/Trencher spread, which typically consists of a ROV Handling system (LARS), a Subsea TMS/ROV and control system/PDU on surface.
  • You will perform your duties in accordance with requirements and be fully aware at all times of the work to be performed, the order of the work to be performed, and your individual responsibilities.
  • In all phases of operations, due consideration shall be given to the safety and occupational health of personnel, the environment, and subcontracted, client, and Company assets.
  • You will perform all activities within your sphere of responsibility being carried out in accordance with applicable statutory regulations and/or client and Company governing documentation on Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and Security (HSEQS).

Role Specific:

  • You will attend applicable Risk Assessments/Safe Job Analysis and communicate findings with all team members.
  • You will ensure that necessary Toolbox Talks – either with active participation and/or by members of the team – are held for any operational, repair, or maintenance work. Inform the ROV Supervisor accordingly.
  • You will be familiar and tick-off relevant steps in the current operational task plan ensuring the ROV operations are performed as directed by the ROV Supervisor.
  • You will ensure equipment and ROV spreads are in complete working order and in compliance with all technical requirements and are operated and maintained in accordance with User Manuals and Company procedures.
  • You will perform equipment setup and tests according to project requirements during mobilizations.
  • You will inform the ROV Supervisor of the general status, technical deviations, and problems associated with the ROV equipment or operation.
  • You will ensure equipment reporting is performed accurately, expediently, and efficiently in accordance with Company procedures – making aware that suspension of operations may be required.
  • You will take initiative and be upfront on the development of matters covering aspects of technical and operational improvements and innovation within the laying industry and on operational facets concerning HSEQS activities in relation to the business of the Company.
  • You will have the ability to read and understand complex electrical and/or hydraulic drawings.
  • You will have excellent technical understanding within ROV systems.

KEY TASKS

Operation:

  • You will be part of the upcoming operational activities with the ROV spreads and advise as required.
  • You will be part of the operation, repair, and maintenance of the ROV spreads, including but not limited to: ROV TMS Winches, ROV handling system, CCTV systems, Communications systems, PLS Hydraulic systems, Mechanical systems, ROV Tooling, ROV Sensors.
  • You will ensure relevant equipment-related matters are brought to the attention of the ROV Supervisor.
  • You will notify when Company technical documentation is considered as required to be updated, i.e., operation and maintenance manuals, drawings, circuit diagrams, hydraulic schematics, etc.
  • You will timely maintain the ROV spread to the highest standards.
  • You will review the manner in which equipment is being operated and report any activities which may subject the equipment to damage or create unsafe conditions.
  • You will employ logical fault-finding techniques during breakdown situations.
  • You will assist in commissioning, testing, and monitoring of appropriate equipment as required.
  • You will adhere to the standardized shift hours for the position on board.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Apprenticeship Certificate with one of the following:

  • Electronics
  • Automation
  • Remote systems
  • Hydraulics
  • Electric

SPECIFIC ROLE EXPERIENCE

General:

  • You will have the capability for maintaining an overview and control of complex ROV operations.
  • You will have excellent technical understanding within ROV systems.
  • You will have the ability to read and understand complex electrical and/or hydraulic drawings.

Personal:

  • You will have strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • You will be able to work at height comfortably and safely.

  • You will undergo assessments proving to be competent in the position.
