We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Children and Young Person's Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (CYP IDVA) to join our team in Brighton & Hove. This is a hybrid role, working from both home and in the office at least one day per week, as well as attending meetings and appointments throughout the local area.
Key Responsibilities- Empower young survivors aged 13-25 to identify features and dynamics of domestic abuse
- Conduct comprehensive needs and risk assessments, providing individualized safety and support plans, advocacy, practical support, and information
- Participate in the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC), acting as the voice of the young person and delivering on actions agreed
- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings, including child protection, child in need, and others
- Use a person-centred, survivor-focused approach, being mindful of the effects of trauma and additional barriers to access that children and young people may experience
- An understanding of the issues faced by young survivors experiencing domestic abuse
- A good understanding of risk assessment, safety planning, and risk management for children and young people at risk of domestic abuse
- An understanding of safeguarding issues and the legal responsibilities surrounding these
- Experience of delivering services to survivors of domestic abuse and/or other vulnerable people
- Experience of working within a multi-agency and legislative framework
