Job Title: Audit Executive

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Audit Executive to join our team in Maidstone. As a key member of our audit team, you will be responsible for leading large-scale audits, ensuring deadlines are met, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement audit plans, including identifying potential difficulties and ensuring correct tests are applied to produce sufficient audit evidence.
  • Allocate sections to junior staff and provide guidance on expectations.
  • Answer queries from junior staff throughout the audit process.
  • Complete audits in accordance with MHA audit procedures, with assistance from senior members of staff as needed.
  • Monitor progress, ensure budgets are met, and address any problems encountered to ensure timely completion.
  • Supervise and check the work of junior staff, completing sections as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate recording of hours worked on clients, enabling a true reflection of profitability.
  • Complete analysis of tax items and sign off audit sections.
  • Finalize job tasks, including documentation, Key Issues Memorandum, and summary of outstanding points.
Supervision and Staff Development:
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff to enhance skills and future effectiveness.
  • Monitor staff performance, providing feedback and completing audit review forms.
Decision Making:
  • Determine what tasks to delegate to junior staff.
  • Manage time effectively, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Address disclosure issues and make judgment calls on additional testing requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • ACA or ACCA qualification with practice experience.
  • 3+ years of auditing experience.
  • Strong planning and completion skills.
  • Proficiency in Sage, Excel, Word, and CaseWare (accounts and audit) software.
  • Previous experience in supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge, including recent developments in accounting standards.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Client-focused and commercially aware.
  • Team building and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be positive in dealings with clients and staff.
