About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join our team at RAF Lakenheath. As a key member of our Industrial Equipment Mechanic Work Leaders, you will be responsible for maintaining, overhauling, and repairing water treatment and distribution systems, industrial waste treatment equipment, and collection systems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and plan maintenance, repair, and overhaul tasks for water and wastewater treatment plants and systems.
  • Examine and troubleshoot industrial plant machinery to identify and rectify performance shortfalls.
  • Utilize blueprints, sketches, specifications, and work orders to plan and lay out work.
  • Supervise preventive maintenance services and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of test equipment and measuring devices.
  • Teach and guide lower-graded or other trades employees and ensure a safe and clean work environment.
Requirements
  • BTEC Level 3/City and Guilds/NVQ in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in planning and leading teams for corrective and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to independently diagnose, plan, and complete projects involving major water and wastewater systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electric, and electronic procedures, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools, and various test equipment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, sketches, and work orders.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain water and wastewater treatment plant equipment.
  • Ability to handle and safeguard sensitive information and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • Category B driver's license and willingness to undergo a pre-employment physical.
