Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

We are seeking an experienced Electrical and Instrumentation Technician to join our team at British Sugar. This role will provide an opportunity for a skilled professional to support and influence the development of our electrical and instrumentation capability at a world-class sugar producing site.
Key Responsibilities- Work in partnership with the Department Engineering Lead and department technicians to carry out repairs to process plant.
- Troubleshoot and practically fault-find on plant and electrical/instrumentation/control systems.
- Install new plant or modifications as appropriate.
- Carry out planned inspection routes on process plant and proactive maintenance.
- During maintenance periods, undertake maintenance activities, as well as testing and commissioning plant in readiness for operations.
- Electrical tasks such as 3-phase electrical distribution from 24V DC to 11kV AC, installation work, instrumentation and calibrations, maintenance and fault-finding in a heavy industrial environment.
- Report all engineering activities in the appropriate format into the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Make plant safe for maintenance/repairs.
- Be competent to receive and/or authorise a range of permits as required.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge and hands-on skills gained through large-scale, complex operational factory experience.
- Understanding of hazards and controls associated with a complex industrial environment and producing food and feed.
- NVQ level 3 in Electrical Engineering supported by a recognised apprenticeship.
- A proven track record of effective technical problem-solving, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work as an individual and with groups.
- Ability to effectively balance urgent and important tasks.
- Experience of working in a lean operating environment.
- Experience of working in an operational team of varying disciplines and skill levels.
