About The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of municipal vehicles to a high standard, adhering to regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance. This will involve completing all necessary paperwork and utilizing the Fleet management system accurately and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all vehicles booked into the workshop have had all work completed or have been re-booked as a re-visit repair before being returned to the customer.
  • Complete all paperwork required for tasks completed and return documentation to the workshop controller immediately on completion.
  • Ensure all ordered parts for jobs are correct for the work required.
  • Assist other technicians with repairs when required and complete the workshop controller's duties when necessary.
  • Fully utilize the fleet management system (Fleetwave) as required.
  • Adhere to SFS Health and Safety policies at all times.
  • Ensure the workshop and parking area are kept clean and tidy, and all customer/SFS vehicles are parked efficiently, with walkways kept clear at all times.
  • Ensure all equipment being used is in a safe condition and only used for the task it was designed for, with any failures in operation reported to the workshop controller.
  • Attend vehicle breakdowns on site as and when required, with a workshop vehicle/van provided.
  • Ensure no vehicle is returned to the customer unless it is safe to be returned for their use.
  • Create and maintain a professional relationship with SFS staff, customers, and suppliers.
  • Be on standby 24/7 on a weekly basis as and when required.

About You

Skills

  • A full clean HGV driving license category C is required as a minimum.
  • A minimum of 5 years' technical experience on municipal vehicles (e.g. refuse, sweepers, etc) is required.
  • Technical experience on vehicle electrical systems (12+24 volts), hydraulic, and pneumatic systems is required.
  • Evidence of qualifications and training in the following areas: recognized time served on an apprenticeship scheme, VOSA vehicle inspection course, municipal vehicle manufacturing training.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety rules and regulations is required.
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.

  • Organisation skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines.

Working Hours

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours to meet the needs of the business.
