We are seeking an experienced Human Factors Specialist to join our team in Peterborough, Ontario.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work as part of our Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineering team to support on-power refueling systems for CANDU reactors.

You will be responsible for completing Human Factors assessments in compliance with CNSC requirements, CSA N290.12-14, and NUREG-0711.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the execution of operating experience reviews, functional requirements analysis, task analysis, human error analysis, and verification/acceptance of other Human Factors Specialist work.
  • Assessing project scope to determine the required level of Human Factors Engineering involvement.
  • Developing Human Factors Engineering Program Plans.
  • Applying knowledge of hardware and software controls, displays, annunciations, and evaluations of interactions between the Human System Interface and the User(s).
  • Documenting analysis results in Human Factors Engineering Summary Reports.
  • Supporting development of Human Factors Engineering Verification and Validation Plans.
  • Performing and documenting design verification and validation activities.
  • Providing input to proposal creation which includes Human Factors Engineering scope.
  • As required, supporting other engineering deliverables.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Engineering Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related science with Human Factors coursework.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Qualified Human Factors Specialist.
  • P.Eng. or eligibility to obtain in near future.
  • Demonstrable experience in Human Factors Design in regulated industries like Nuclear, Aerospace, Defense, Oil and Gas, and Medical.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with project team members, vendors, and customers to ensure project scope and requirements are understood.
