Digital Control Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Southern Nuclear. As a key member of our Nuclear Fleet Engineering Plant Support organization, you will provide digital engineering expertise and analysis for our operating fleet.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting troubleshooting, testing, change requests, and field installation of Westinghouse / Emerson DCS Ovation Controls.
  • Determining preventative and predictive maintenance for digital systems.
  • Developing software and hardware Life Cycle Asset Management Plan and strategy to address obsolescence and develop bridging strategies to improve reliability.
  • Coordinating with Cyber Security Group to ensure cyber protection schemes and updates have been integrated into Digital Systems.
  • Validating Digital Systems software patch management programs are implemented.
  • Performing similar responsibilities for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in digital systems testing and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with software operating system configuration and installation.
  • Skilled with DCS controls, software, network switches and historians.
  • Prior experience working at, or closely with, a DCS facility is a major plus.
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound engineering decisions, based on experience and appropriate industry practices, in order to make timely decisions which might impact plant safety and reliability.
  • Develops strong teamwork with peers throughout the nuclear industry.
