Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Pharmacist to join our Aseptic Technical Services team at Royal Blackburn Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective and efficient quality assurance of unlicensed aseptic products and providing support for the specialised chemotherapy clinical service.

About the Role

The Technical Service operates under the section 10 exemption of the Medicine Act 1968 (as referenced in The Human Medicines Regulations 2012) and complies with the standards of the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation services QAAPs. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our team to develop a complex part of our pharmacy service and contribute to the expansion of our service towards a Specials Manufacturing Licence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as "Authorising Pharmacist" under section 10 exemption
  • Adhere to the overarching Pharmaceutical Quality Management System (PQS) for Technical Services
  • Provide leadership with regards to all operational quality aspects
  • Provide a Specialist Oncology Service
  • Support the Principal Pharmacist in building and maintaining a robust Quality Management System (QMS)

Person Specification

Qualification

Essential

  • MPharm Degree (4 years) or equivalent
  • Member GPhC

Desirable

  • Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA) Diploma
  • Postgraduate clinical diploma
  • Non-Medical Prescribing

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in Aseptic service and relevant clinical experience
  • Experience in writing and developing SOP
  • Advance practice in one or more area

Desirable

  • Experience in managing change
  • Experience in undertaking internal audits
  • Experience working in clinical trials

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of local and national NHS and Pharmaceutical Policy
  • Expert knowledge of GCP/GMP/GDP
  • Knowledge of clean room designs and regulations
  • Understanding of risk management and principles of clinical governance
  • Able to communicate highly complex information to senior staff both within and outside pharmacy and patients
